Job SummaryApplications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the post of HVAC Engineer at the Roy Schneider Hospital.
A skilled position in diagnosing malfunctions and inspection of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and systems. Under the general supervision, assist in the performance of duties necessary to keep the HVAC, Building Management System and associated equipment in the hospital in good repair. Minor electrical work associated; mechanical repairs and other duties relating to maintenance are the primary duties.
Hazards & Physical Requirements:
6 or more hours of standing/walking; good manual dexterity; work in areas that may be confined; exposure to extreme conditions, hot/cold; respiratory precaution due to high exposure to dust, fumes, gases; exposure to moving mechanical parts; exposure to potential electrical shock; exposure to loud noises; exposure to heights; some CRT use; exposure to toxic, caustic, chemicals; climbing, bending, crouching, balancing, reaching above head, reaching above shoulder, twisting at waist, push/pull up to 50-75 lbs; lifting from floor level, from waist, from above shoulders/head.
Education and Experience:
(Min) Graduation from high school or possession of an appropriate equivalency diploma; (OR) HVAC Technician certification (OR) appropriate specialized training in the skills needed in HVAC systems repair and installation (OR) 4+ years journeyman experience in HVAC & energy management, two of which were spent in commercial HVAC repair/installation.
Refrigerant License (preferred); Uses a variety of hand or power tools and equipment; knowledge of the methods, tools and materials used in the trades specified.
