Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualification

Doctorate (PhD) in French/French as a Foreign Language; or, a Doctorate (PhD) in Languages/Language Teaching/Applied Linguistics with a Master’s Degree in French/ French as a Foreign Language



  • At least three (3) years teaching experience at the tertiary level
  • Proven curriculum planning; syllabus design and programme coordination experience
  • Significant record of publications and scholarly activity
  • Demonstrable excellent practice of design and/or delivery of innovative learning-support activities including blended/technology-enhanced/e-learning


Special Expertise /Area of Concentration

The candidate should demonstrate:

  • Native or near native competence (CEFR C1/2) in spoken and written French
  • Competence in spoken and written English (CEFR B2)
  • Ability to engage in research and scholarly activity and contribute to the achievement of the Centre’s aims with regard to research and scholarship


Special Responsibilities 

The appointee will be required to:

  • Lecturer in French Language and French/Francophone cultures and societies from Beginner to Advanced levels
  • Act as Coordinator/Group Leader for French, German, Italian and Portuguese
  • Engage in relevant scholarship, professional and administrative duties as required
