Job SummaryApplications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Mathematics in the Department of Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics, The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados.
The successful applicant should have a completed PhD in Mathematics, excellent communication skills in English, a good knowledge of WeBWorK, Sage or another CAS, and proficiency in Python would be a bonus.
Candidates should have a proven research track record, and outstanding research potential at a level of international excellence. While preference will be given to candidates working in Applied Combinatorics and/or Discrete Optimization, they should also have a mathematical outlook that enhances, bridges and complements the research areas of our small discipline of mathematics which currently comprises of biostatistics and estimation theory, ring theory and algebraic lattices, multivariate regression and correlation analysis, and aperiodic tilings and fractal & discrete geometry. Applicants with an interest in interdisciplinary and experimental approaches to mathematics would be at a distinct advantage.
He/she would be expected to teach across the wide range of undergraduate courses as well as teach dedicated courses for and supervise MPhil and PhD students in Mathematics. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of research and will contribute to the general work of the discipline of mathematics, the department and The University.
The successful applicant will be expected to assume duties by August 1, 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
