Job Description

Qualification and Experience

  • A Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Considerable post-doctoral teaching and research experience in the relevant area of specialization


The successful candidate should be registered or be able to register as a health care professional with relevant statutory body in Trinidad and Tobago


Special Responsibilities

  • Teaching and supervision of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students in various subjects such as Pharmacology/Phytopharmacology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Applied Therapeutics, Clinical Toxicology, Clinical Skills and Complementary/Alternative Medicine
  • Carrying out research and producing publications or other research outputs
  • Developing and setting up Phytopharmacology/Natural Product Chemistry lab
  • Assisting in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement, attendance and the conduction of exam and other assessments
  • Participating in departmental and faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department
  • Contributing to departmental, faculty, or university wide working groups or committees


Personal Attributes

The School places high priority on individuals who can work well in a team environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also:

  • Have experience with course management, lecture delivery and related software
  • Have a strong background in research and publication and has a proven track record in the area of own research as evidenced by peer reviewed publication in the area
  • Be able to co-ordinate and work for multi-disciplinary teaching and research
