Job SummaryThe Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, wishes to invite applications for the post of Professorial Fellow in Economics.
The successful candidate should be an established scholar at the (full) professorial level, have a strong research record and be comfortable working with multidisciplinary approaches and teams.
S/he would be expected to lead innovative research projects in keeping with the Instituteís research agenda “Caribbean Prospects for 2030 and the Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” and to develop trans-national networks of scholars to enhance academic discourse and policy debates on issues relevant to the contemporary and future Caribbean development; and play a leading role in building the research and teaching capacity of SALISES.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise in the Institute’s MSc in Development Studies and MPhil/PhD programmes. S/he will also be expected to play a leading role in one or more existing research clusters or the development of new clusters. Existing clusters, composed of local and international scholars include:
- Sustainable Rural Agricultural Development
- Caribbean Integration
- Social Policy
- Political Economy and Public Policy
The successful applicant will be expected to assume duties from 1 August 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
