Wound Care Nurse
Job SummaryApplications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the post of Wound Care Nurse at the Roy Schneider Hospital.
The Wound Care Nurse has primary oversight of the facility-wide wound care program. In this leadership role, the Wound Care Nurse directs others within the facility towards process improvements that will support the reduction of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes.
The Wound Care Nurse is responsible for coordinating a multi-disciplinary team that reviews the latest pressure ulcer guidelines and nationally recognized standards set forth by the AHRQ and the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel and addresses the effectiveness of the organizations wound care protocols and prevention program.
The Wound Care Nurse has oversight of assessment, evaluation, and treatment of patients, specifically those with acute and/or chronic wounds, ostomy management and education as well as management of fistulae, tubes, skin, and incontinence issues. This person works in conjunction with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary staff to evaluate, propose, plan and perform patient assessments and treatments.
The Wound Care Nurse partners with nursing, medical staff, and financial services to ensure that appropriate billing and reimbursement for wound care treatment is occurring in the organization.
This person assumes responsibility and accountability for the duties of the position and is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Schneider Regional Medical Center and their respective Department.
The Wound Care Nurse reports to the Vice-President of Nursing & Patient Care Services/ Chief Nursing Officer
