Saba Comprehensive School is the only institution for secondary education on the beautiful island of Saba. Our new colleague must possess a degree in Biology/Integrated Science, including a teaching certificate. Experience teaching high school students on different levels for some years. As an educational professional, the applicant must be able to employ and teach 21st century skills, to differentiate and to give proper holistic care and attention to students in (and outside of) the classroom. You have strong interpersonal and communication skills and create a structured, supportive learning environment. You will be the mentor for one of the classes, give lessons in Biology, and Integrated Science to all levels. You help them with personal development and educational progress. Knowledge and experience with the CXC system (including CCSLC and CSEC) or willing to learn this.
What we offer
An appointment by contract, initially for one year, with the prospect to extend the appointment if performance meets the base expectations of the role. Salary scale will be according with the established salary scaling for secondary education on the Dutch BES Islands and on top a 12% Saba allowance. The wagetax on Saba is max 35,4%. Included in the salary are holiday pay and end-of-year bonus, participation in the Caribbean Netherlands Pension Fund (PCN), holiday according to holiday schedule of SCS educational staff, a plane ticket and relocation assistance for candidates moving to Saba and professional development opportunities.
