Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Financial Reporting and Reconciliation Supervisor, the incumbent is to ensure the timely production of expenditure reports and bank reconciliations.

Job Description

KEY OUTPUTS

  • Monthly and annual expenditure reports
  • Monthly Bank Reconciliations
  • Advances Supporting Documents requested & retrieved
  • Audit responses drafted
  • Information provided upon request

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  • Research banking errors/matters
  • Performs follow-ups to ensure that errors are corrected
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Reconcile other accounting records/transactions, as identified
  • Report on areas of reconciling weaknesses, errors and discrepancies
  • Certify reconciliations statements
  • Certify journals
  • Research all reconciling transactions and cleared
  • Draft monthly expenditure reports
  • Examine financial statements for errors
  • Print and submit financial statements
  • Circulate monthly financial statements, upon authorization
  • Draft annual and quarterly expenditure reports
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual appropriation accounts
  • Draft ad hoc financial reports, as requested
  • Assist in preparing responses to Audit Queries
  • Ensures that advance balances are cleared, promptly
  • Existing backlog cleared within the specified timeline
  • Requests documents for the clearing of advances
  • Reconciles deposit Accounts
  • Files and secures Accounting records
  • Performs other duties assigned

 

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Financial reports are completed accurately and within the agreed timeline and in keeping with the established policies, practices and procedures
  • Monthly certification of bank reconciliations
  • Timely clearance of advance accounts
  • Responses to audit queries drafted, within the given timeline
  • Confidentiality and integrity are exercised
  • Responses to audit queries drafted, within the given timeline

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

(a)  Qualifications and Experience

  • AAT Level 2 or;
  • ACCA-CAT level 2 or;
  • Certificate in Accounting or;
  • Completion of second year in B.Sc. in Accounting or Management Studies at a recognized University or;
  • A. Sc. – Accounting, MIND or;
  • Government Accounting Level 2.
