Assistant/Associate Professor, French and Haitian Creole
Job SummaryThe Faculty of Liberal and Fine Arts is pleased to invite applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor, French and Haitian Creole. This full-time appointment will begin 2 August 2018.
The Department of Foreign Languages is seeking a faculty colleague with the ability to teach beginners and intermediate levels of French and Haitian Creole language; a strong commitment to undergraduate instruction; evidence of excellence in teaching and the use of creative/innovative pedagogies; evidence of course development and implementation; and evidence of research and scholarship. We encourage applications from professionals who can help us continue to prepare exceptional and ethical students.
Teach beginners and intermediate levels of French and Haitian Creole language; engage in research; assist in securing external grants and other funding opportunities; participate in curriculum review and development with a view to the development of a bachelor degree programme in Haitian Creole; develop and participate in departmental projects; contribute to the development of teaching materials; serve on departmental, school and university-wide committees.
Candidates must have an earned PhD in Language/Linguistics, Haitian or Francophone Studies, Pedagogy (FLE) from an accredited institution; native or near-native fluency in Haitian Creole/French and English (oral and written); excellent undergraduate teaching experience; an active research agenda.
