To supervise staff in the receipt, Storage, handling and delivery of aviation fuel to customers in accordance with established operating procedures, safety and quality control requirements and standards prescribed by the JO Operator.


  • To ensure compliance with safety standards for all maintenance job functions (aircraft refuelling, refueller & plant maintenance, grounds keeping and on some occasions supervise the aviation technicians if required).
  • To ensure proper maintenance of all records, reports, delivery tickets, certificates, log books and other documentation in accordance with operating procedures.
  • To maintain good relations with customers and ensure that services delivered meet the customer's expectations.
  • To execute correct emergency procedures in the event of incidents.
  • Provide support to the aircraft refuelling operation in the event there is a shortage of manpower.



  • Ensures all airfield operations and depot related activities inclusive of the management of jet fuel stocks are compliant with the SOL’s Aviation Operating procedures and policies.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of all records, reports, delivery tickets, certificates, log books and other documentation in accordance with operating procedures.
  • Manages the day to day aviation fuelling operations
  • Leads and coaches the local aviation team.
  • Prepares and submits operational reports in accordance with reporting procedures
  • Assists the Aviation Superintendent in the preparation of annual Operating and Capital expenditure budgets for the Airfield operations.
  • Manages the day to day financial activities of the local aviation operation in accordance with SOL’s financial procedures and policies.
  • Coordinates, in conjunction with the Aviation Superintendent, all technical audits of the airfield operations and facilities.
  • Ensures effective maintenance programs are in place and executed for all vehicles, plant and equipment.
  • Provides support to organize operator’s shifts according to operating needs.
  • Provides support in executing special projects at the airport.
  • Handles stock reconciliation and provides the required reports.
  • Provides support in managing airport operating expenses.
  • Provides support in the follow up to recommendations from inspections, audits, assessments etc.
  • Assumes all roles and responsibilities in the absence of the Superintendent.
  • Ensures that all quality control checks are completed as per quality procedures
  • Assist the Aviation Superintendent in ensuring that staff are current on required training



  • Ensures that all emergency plant equipment (fire system, power generator, alarm verification) are checked on a weekly basis and adequately documented.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety activities and programs required by the JO Operator, including the Observation Program and Unsafe Condition/Near Miss reporting system and safety/emergency exercises.
  • Participates in the implementation of work controls procedures, critical services etc.
  • Reports and records any conditions observed that might pose a safety, health or environmental hazard.
  • Attends all training sessions provided by the JO Operator, agents of the JO Operator, Airlines, Contractor or agents of the Contractor required for the effective performance of the position.
  • Assists with on-the-job training of Trainees as may be required from time to time.
  • Performs any other activity assigned by the Superintendent.
