Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities: 
Reporting to the Executive Chief Steward, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Ensuring the efficient operation of the department
  • Training, motivating, leading, coaching and monitoring performance management of the team
  • Ensuring all areas adhere to industry best practice cleanliness and maintenance standards
  • Ensuring all equipment  needed is in good working condition
  • Actively  promote a safe and hazard free work environment, including proper food handling procedures, cleaning and storage of food containers, use of cleaning chemicals and PPE's and maintenance of dishwashing equipment
  • Conducting inventories to include china, glass, silver, paper and cleaning supplies
  • Maintaining and adhering to budgetary guidelines with respect to breakage, inventory and preventative maintenance
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned


  • Hospitality Degree or Diploma in related discipline an asset
  • 2 years relevant experience, including 1 year in which supervising a large team required
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of WHMIS regulations and guidelines
  • Valid Driver's license 
  • Proven leadership, team and training skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all stakeholders in a diverse, multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written, fluent in English), prioritization, problem solving, organization, and multi tasking skills; detail oriented
  • Basic knowledge of electronic systems an asset
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required
Visa Requirements: Non-Bermudian candidates will need to qualify for a Bermuda Department of Immigration work permit applied for by the Fairmont Southampton Hotel.
