Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill vacant position of Assistant Professor of Psychology.

 

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is seeking candidates who will teach a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year, with the possibility of teaching in the evening if necessary at the undergraduate level. Applicants should possess a doctorate degree in Developmental or Social Psychology, as well as two or more years of teaching in a comparable higher education setting. A demonstrated interest and ability to work with students from a broad range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds is essential. An emphasis on the cultural context of human behavior and knowledge of the Caribbean are very desirable. Adaptability, personal maturity and genuine interest in students are important assets.

 

Required Qualifications

Doctorate degree in Developmental or Social Psychology. A minimum of three years undergraduate teaching experience is desirable. Evidence of active research agenda in field of specialty is required. Experience in distant learning and web-based courses is desirable. Must demonstrate excellence in teaching at the university level and have the ability to work with people of diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. Applicant must be licensed or license- eligible as a Virgin Islands Psychologist. All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of offer.

Ph.D. is preferred

 

Physical Demands

While performing job duties, employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, reach, talk, hear, and lift up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance and color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work environment: The noise level in the work environment will probably be low to moderate.
