The incumbent performs audit procedures, tests controls, examines financial and operational records, and ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

 

Job Purpose

Under the direction of the Senior Auditor, the incumbent is responsible for performing tests of controls and transactions, preparing audit documentations, and assisting with the examination of transactions, records, and documents both financial and operational to determine compliance with the provisions of relevant laws, regulations, policies and rules.

  • Financial & HRM and Administration records reviewed and verified
  • Inspection conducted (fixed assets)
  • Financial and Accounting practices and procedures appraised
  • Interviews conducted
  • Audit fieldwork planned
  • Liaison activities to acquire Branch information conducted
  • Audit finding documented and reported
  • Audit records system maintained
  • Audit working papers, schedules and supporting documentations for audit engagements prepared and submitted
  • Standard Operating Procedures prepared
  • Annual/Quarterly/Monthly Reports prepared
  • Individual work plan developed

 

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Management Studies, Public Sector Management, Public/Business Administration, or a related discipline, OR
  • Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) Level 2;

OR

  • Associate Degree in Accounting or Business Administration; AAT Diploma, ACCA-CAT Level 3 or equivalent qualification; plus at least two (2) years auditing or accounting experience

 

Special conditions associated with the job

  • May be required to work in areas with varying temperatures, including low-temperature environment, exposure to dust and heat etc. from examining files and documents
  • May be required to travel to attend conference, seminars and meetings
  • Fast paced environment with ongoing interactions with critical stakeholders and meeting tight deadlines which may result in high degree of pressure on occasions
