Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading and coordinating all business development activities for Private Banking, Asset Management, and Custody with the primary objective of driving increased volume and revenue for the Wealth Management Group (WMG).

Job Description

The incumbent should be able to recognise and capitalise on selling opportunities and have a sound knowledge of the requirements of the domestic and international wealth communities and the firms that serve them.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • developing and implementing a business development plan for WMG, partnering with the respective business heads including new business targets 
  • promoting the Wealth Management business across the jurisdiction to raise the profile of the business in the community including ensuring that Butterfield WMG participates in and/or sponsors key events, catering to key target markets and holds regular client events to entertain and/or to educate clients on topics relevant to their financials needs 
  • representing and promoting Butterfield at local conferences relevant to the WMG and captive markets 
  • building relationships with key influencers and/or referral sources in the wealth management space to create a broad and effective referral network 
  • identifying opportunities for new business initiatives in the market and leading their execution with appropriate, internal Butterfield WMG departments 
  • defining, launching, and sustaining an offering directed at serving the professional firms on the Island, including all relevant parties 
  • building a dynamic pipeline of client opportunities that can be introduced to Relationship Managers and/or Portfolio Managers for action 
  • working with Corporate Banking and Butterfield 
  • Trust (Bermuda) Limited to introduce asset management services and/or banking services as appropriate 
  • working with Retail Banking to identify potential 
  • Private Banking and Asset Management prospects 
  • managing a portfolio of demanding relationships, cross-selling the full range of the Bank’s products and services, and undertaking profitability analyses when required 
  • maintaining a thorough knowledge and understanding of Bank policies and procedures, and regulatory and compliance requirements 
  • providing input into a broad range of current and or future projects within the Bank impacting on your Customer Base 

Required qualifications and skills:

  • university degree in marketing, commerce, finance or related field preferred 
  • minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the financial services industry 
  • proven track record of creating and executing business development plans across a broad spectrum of business lines such as banking, investments, brokerage and insurance 
  • strong presentation and sales skills 
  • strong interpersonal, negotiation and decision-making skills are required 
  • high-level understanding of compliance requirements associated with high net worth individuals 
  • strong sense of professionalism, with an understanding of standard business customs and practices 
  • a professional designation such as CFP, CFA, would be an asset 
  • proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications 

Salary Range: CI$95,000 to CI$110,000 per annum
