The Dietitian I is required to develop and supervise the implementation of Food Service Programmes at any Facility under the purview of the South-West Regional Health to improve the nutritional intake and overall health of patients.

 

THE CORE FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Assesses the nutritional status of patients/clients.
  • Analyses nutrition assessment data of patients/clients.
  • Develops and implements nutrition care plans.
  • Establishes meal patterns for calculated diets and monitors their usage and effectiveness.
  • Records nutrition related data and nutrition care plans in the patient’s medical record if required.
  • Liaises with the relevant stakeholders to coordinate nutrition services.
  • Advises patients/clients on food selection and preparation based on medical recommendations and nutritional needs.
  • Plans and participates in Training and Developmental Programmes for staff engaged in food preparation.
  • Supports the annual operating budget and maintains cost control systems in performance of related duties.
  • Lectures to Dietetic, Nursing and Medical students and other interested groups/staff.
  • Maintains relevant departmental records.
  • Performs other related duties as may be required.
  • Advises patients on food selection and preparation based on medical recommendations and nutritional needs.
  • Ability to perform duties according to assigned rosters or plans that can be formulated in times of authorized service exigencies.
  • Ability to use the relevant computer applications related to job functions.

 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and Dietetic Internship or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year experience in food service systems management and clinical nutrition at levels of Primary and Secondary Care.
  • Membership or eligibility in TTANDI, CANDI or any other recognized international professional Association.
  • Possession of a valid Food Badge.
  • Current registration with the Nutritionists and Dietitians Board of Trinidad & Tobago.
