The incumbent maintains and supports the various points of contact with other jurisdictions for culture and the creative industries; and also conducts the necessary research to create and maintain the relevant databases on behalf of the Ministry.


Management/Administration Responsibilities

  • Contributes to and supports the planning process of the Division by assisting with the preparation of the operational/work plans and budget;
  • Ensures that outputs are achieved according to agreed timelines and measurable targets;
  • Supports the requirements of the approved budget for the Division ensuring that all expenditure is documented and accounted for according to GOJ guidelines;
  • Represents the Division at meetings, conferences workshops and provides reports to the Principal Director.

 Technical/Professional Responsibilities

  • Undertakes qualitative and quantitative research to support the preparation of briefs, speeches, reports and other related activities; and prepare drafts as required;
  • Collaborates with the MCGES System Analyst/Programmer to design and manage the software applications used to support research activities;
  • In collaboration with the Entertainment Division, facilitates the timely updating of the various databases used to track the initiatives and activities involving practitioners of culture and the creative industries;
  • Obtains the necessary data in order to evaluate and report on the impact of Jamaica’s involvement in Cultural Exchanges with other countries;
  • Monitors activities within the public and private cultural and creative industries in order to foster cooperation among institutions while identifying and seeking solutions to any challenges;
  • Supports the requirements and decisions of the Principal Director, Culture and Creative Industries including the preparation and timely delivery of reports, as well as, assigned special projects.




  • Excellent knowledge/background/experience in quantitative and qualitative data gathering and analysis

  • A First Degree in the Social Sciences or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Two (2) years of related work experience
  • Background in planning and executing special events, particularly those that are culture-based would be considered an asset 
Salary Range: $1,444,292 - $1,716,809 per annum and any allowance(s) attached to the post
