Job Summary

The University of the Virgin Islands invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the post of Director of Operations / Assistant/Associate Professor of Business or Education for UVIUSM.

Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Provost, the successful candidate, who will be based in St. Martin, will be responsible for the following:

  • Teaching 12 credits per academic year in Business or Education
  • Collaborate with USM administrators as UVI liaison
  • Provide oversight and remote program monitoring by responding to email requests and other program-related matters as needed
  • Coordinate academic and student affairs support with Provost component
  • Advocate for UVI@USM students
  • Conduct recruitment and promotional activities
  • Train students and faculty in use of learning resources
  • Collaborate with ITS to provide oversight for USM library, and function as outreach librarian
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications    

  • PhD in Business or Education related field.

  • Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer orientation as well as demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with library information systems and effective information literacy programming

  • Work independently to review and develop comprehensive reports
  • Adapt to change successfully
  • Work under pressure while possessing mature judgment and flexibility
  • Work effectively with diverse groups and individuals


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of teaching and administrative experience preferred.


Knowledge of:

  • Up-to-date business productivity and web applications
  • Higher education administration
  • Academic programs and processes in higher education
  • Academic library administration and operations
