Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are being invited to apply for the position of Forest Technician (Forest Management) - Level 5 - Western Zone (3 posts)

Job Purpose:     

Under the general direction of the Forester, Forest Management the incumbent is responsible for the implementation of a variety of programmes and projects in the management and development of forest within assigned forest regions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates  the establishment and maintenance of plantations on forest estates in accordance to Silviculture prescriptions and standard operations procedures
  • Provides technical guidance in the establishment of the Agro-forestry and Urban Forestry Programmes and monitors the maintenance of Agro-Forestry and Urban Forestry sites and arrangements of trees in other applications
  • Facilitates the establishment and maintenance of boundary, fire lines, roads and trails within  assigned forested areas in accordance to standard operating proceduresLiaises with the enforcement  personnel in the implementation of remedial activities for the protection of assigned forest estates
  • Prepares contracts and labour bills in accordance with government regulations
  • Conduct phenological assessments in assigned forested areas
  • Liaises with Nursery personnel and the Seed Collection Co-ordinator in the provision of seedlings / planting material to support annual reforestation work programme
  • Assist with the Agency’s forest inventory activities including mensuration (eg. Standing volume assessment and Scaling of logs) Prepares and submits monthly, annual and other periodic reports
  • Assist with data collection to facilitate the development of forest management plans and the implementation of these plans
  • Participates in the dissemination of  technical information and documentations to client groups and stakeholders within assigned forested areas
  • Monitors recreational sites and eco-tourism initiatives.
  • Assists with the identification of lands for reforestation programme

Minimum Qualification & Experience

  • Associate Degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Natural Science, Environmental Management or related area
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management
  • Certificate in Surveying would be an asset
  • Two (2) year’s field experience
  • Knowledge of total quality management principles and procedures


  • Any other acceptable combination of academic qualification and related experience


Salary Range - $1,142,074.00 - $1,414,355.00 per annum, plus applicable allowances
