Job Summary

HSBC Bermuda is seeking a highly skilled professional to direct the effective identification, assessment, management, monitoring, investigation, and mitigation of Financial Crime risk across all businesses and functions within Bermuda.

Job Description

The role will provide leadership and work with teams in Bermuda as a subject matter expert across the Financial Crime Risk spectrum.

Major responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management of the Financial Crime Threat Mitigation (“FCTM”) function at a country level, representing the function to Lines of Business, as well as the Group’s counterparts in industry, regulatory and security agencies 
  • Interacting with law enforcement, security, and regulatory agencies in furtherance of public-private partnerships, information and training initiatives, typologies, and investigations of significance 
  • Continuous improvement in understanding the evolving financial crime risks at a country level and ensuring that this knowledge is rapidly applied to mitigation activities and shared with the hub 
  • Communicating and escalating significant financial crime risk findings to senior and regional management to support the appraisal of relevant risks and drafting of mitigation strategies 
  • Ensuring that FCTM staffing is of the necessary calibre in the key areas of investigations, financial crime subject matter expertise, intelligence and analysis, as well as data and analytics 

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field 
  • At least eight years of experience in a financial services/financial investigations role, with significant Financial Crime Risk, Compliance, or Investigations experience 
  • Expertise in Anti Money Laundering/Counter Terrorist Financing regulations and financial crime typologies 
  • An excellent understanding of the investigative and regulatory environment and the ability to interpret regulatory rules 
  • Proven ability to clearly articulate business and regulatory implications, investigations, and other findings with both Compliance and Senior Business Management 
  • Highly motivated, proactive, self-starter with proven ability to work collaboratively within teams and deliver results in a timely manner 
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills 
  • Demonstrable leadership and strong people management skills
