The Early Childhood Commission (ECC) is seeking to identify highly motivated and dynamic individuals to fill the vacant post of Help Desk Assistant (MIS/IT 1).

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Manager Information Technology, the Help Desk Assistant is responsible for providing user friendly and efficient support to users of the Early Childhood Commission’s (ECC’s) information technology systems by receiving, logging and resolving problems or referring problems for resolution. The Help Desk Assistant is also responsible for assisting with basic maintenance work on the information technology system.


Key Responsibilities:

User Support

  • Receives telephone and email support requests and log them on the Help desk call logging system
  • Addresses and resolves problems and requests for support; refers unresolved matters to an appropriate member of the information technology staff or to the Manager Information Technology if necessary.
  • Prepares periodic reports on user problems
  • Prepares a weekly/monthly analysis and summary of calls received

Information Systems Support

  • Provides basic support for the hardware, peripherals and network access as assigned
  • Provides basic support for office productivity applications such as Microsoft Windows, Word, email and other software as assignedAssists with daily system backup and safe storage of files as directed
  • Provides basic administration of computer accounts and passwords


Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma in Computer Science/Information System or related discipline
  • At least one (1) years experience in Helpdesk/deskside or other IT environment


Required Competencies:


  • Strong computer hardware, software and network troubleshooting skills
  • Good skills in team work and cooperation
  • Good organizational and time management skills including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral format
  • Ability to work independently, using initiative and without close supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills, client focus and inter-personal skills for user support


  • Working knowledge of PC operating systems including Windows 8.1, 10
  • Sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and other software used by the ECC
  • Basic knowledge of popular network services and protocols including DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP
  • Basic knowledge of the installation and configuration of networking hardware for PCs
  • Basic knowledge of current developments in computer technology


Remuneration: Salary Scale $646,509.00 – $768,496.00 per annum
