Job Description


The Department of Mathematics in the College of Science and Mathematics at UVI is seeking candidates for a full time, non-tenure track position as a Community Faculty Instructor or Assistant Professor in the area of Mathematics or Mathematics Education, with primary teaching responsibilities in the Department of Mathematics. The position is pending availability of funds.

The position involves teaching 16 credits in support of the mathematics program, primarily general education mathematics offerings and foundations courses for those students who might not be ready for college level work. The ability to reach and inspire students at all levels is critical to the success of the faculty member. The candidate will also assist in the advising of students, and in curriculum development and committee service as needed.

The position requires the ability to teach a wide range of undergraduate mathematics courses as well as adaptability and genuine interest in mentoring students. A Masters or PhD in Mathematics or related field is preferred although applicants with extensive mathematics teaching experience will be considered.

Required Qualifications
A Masters or PhD in Mathematics or a related field at the time of appointment is preferred although applicants with extensive mathematics teaching experience will be considered.
