The Midwife works with the Nursing team to perform obstetrical deliveries and routine duties including ante-partum and post-partum care.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Performs obstetrical deliveries and routine functions.
  • Ante-partum and post-partum care.
  • Delivers expert care, education, counseling and support to women during the childbearing cycle inclusive of home visit.
  • Performs examination and evaluation of the newborn inclusive of performing APGAR scoring.
  • Assists in serving meals, bathing babies, dressing wounds and ulcers and sterilizing instruments.
  • Provides breastfeeding support.
  • Identifies the family's physical, social and emotional needs.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Certification in General Nursing and Midwifery and/or direct Midwifery from a recognized School of Nursing.
  • Five (5) CXC O'levels subjects inclusive of Mathematics and English Language.
  • Registered with the Nursing School Council of Trinidad and Tobago in General nursing and/or direct Midwifery.
