Job Summary

The Westin Grand Cayman is now looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Maître D’ for its award winning 4 diamond restaurant (Beach House) with a real flair and passion for service by providing customers with a memorable experience.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

  • create an environment through personal services, amenities and experiences
  • handling guest reservations and requests personally
  • coordinating reservations in order to assign the corresponding tables
  • welcoming and greeting the guest at the entrance of the dining room and escorting them to their assigned tables or other seating areas while their table is ready
  • getting feedback from guests in order to ensure satisfaction with both food and service
  • maintaining a pleasant and welcoming environment for the guests’ enjoyment at all times, ensuring the best dining experience
  • follow up with guests with additional services that enhance the guests’ experience
  • thanking guests with genuine appreciation before they leave
  • assessing customer complaints, inquiries and recommendations, always striving to provide a better service
  • overseeing all the activities in the restaurant
  • inspecting dining and serving areas as well as all the equipment in use and storage areas for organization and cleanliness
  • ensuring the highest quality of standards are met for service, cleanliness and profitability
  • completing opening and closing duties
  • requesting work orders for maintenance repairs
  • supervising restaurant staff, assigning and monitoring tasks
  • coordinating work schedules
  • managing administrative operations: preparing outlet sales reports, tip distribution sheets
  • handling payments from guests
  • following all company safety, sanitation and security policies and procedures at all times·     
  • training of new employees, instructing the staff on how to provide high-quality service


Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar position
  • strong organizational and planning skills: ability to proactively prioritize needs and effectively manage resources, identifying the most effective way of completing tasks
  • outgoing personality
  • well presented
  • sommelier certification·     
  • strong knowledge of food and beverage pairings·     
  • operation knowledge of a point of sales system (MICROS) and reservation system (OPENTABLE)
