ACB Caribbean is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Manager – Credit Risk, to analyze credit risk for the Bank within its various portfolios of credit and other credit instruments.

In this role, the Manager- Credit Risk is required to develop better credit risk policies and procedures to alleviate losses and maintain capital. Additional duties involve examining data, building financial models, creating performance reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and formulating credit policy and reviewing of large credits to be presented to the Board for approval. The position holder is also responsible for monitoring credit activities, providing opinions on large credits and assessing the risk levels within the credit portfolio, and reporting findings to management and the Board on a quarterly basis. All risks are to be flagged, and the position holder makes recommendations for mitigating these risks.   

 

The duties to be performed include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develops and maintains tools to categorise the level of risk associated with the Bank’s credit instruments
  • Conducts modelling and forecasting exercises on all credit instruments using local, regional and international economic performance data
  • Performs scenario analysis and stress tests on credit portfolios to determine the quality of / risk in the portfolio and the effect upon earnings
  • Prepares periodic reports on credit risk for use by the Board of Directors and Management
  • Conducts additional analysis on credit portfolios as required
  • Closely follows the Bank’s lending at transaction origination, monitoring and advising on possible actions to mitigate the credit risk that could result to the Bank
  • Ensures that credits reviewed are within the Bank’s credit risk appetite and conform to the guidelines set out in Credit Risk Policy
  • Reviews exposures on an ongoing basis to ensure that the Bank remains within its credit risk tolerance and other credit regulatory guidelines.
  • Reviews the economic sector concentration limits; and make recommendations for consideration of management
  • Develops and maintains a credit risk framework for use by management and staff
  • Monitors the trends, performances and risk of ACB’s credit portfolio and identifies emerging risks associated with ACB’s credit portfolio
  • Develops and maintains ACB’s credit risk mitigation plan
  • Prepares reports for the Board of Directors and Management on strategies for mitigating the risks associated with ACB credit portfolio
  • Supports ACB’s management and staff in recognizing and responding to emerging credit risks

 

To perform the job successfully, the individual must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, like Statistics, Physical, and Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, Banking or Finance
  • Postgraduate or professional certificate provides added advantage
  • Several (at least 10) years of industry experience
  • Conducting analysis with statistical and modelling tools and techniques
  • Sound knowledge of credit
  • Skilled at credit risk assessment and mitigation
  • Negotiation skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite
