Manager, General Insurance

Minimum Requirements:

Academic and Experience

• Minimum of Bachelors degree in Business, Management, Finance or relevant field from an accredited university
• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) professional designation or equivalent
• Thorough understanding of Insurance principles, policies and procedures
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Insurance or related field in progressively responsible positions with at least eight (8) years’ experience at senior management level
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, mentor and manage people;
• Undoubted integrity, confidentiality and proven strong initiative;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical, risk assessment and problem-solving skills;
• Sound judgement with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills;

Primary Responsibilities include:

• Responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations of the department
• Assisting with the development and successful implementation of ABII’s Strategy and Vision, working closely with the GM, Board of Directors, Managers and Staff
• Leading the staff of the General Department in accordance with external, regulatory requirements and company guidelines with responsibility for the Department’s performance, productivity and contribution to profit;
• Developing and maintaining systems, processes and policies to enable better management reporting
• Networking aggressively to develop relationships
• Responsible for the management of General Insurance Claims.
