The Western Regional Health Authority (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health and Wellness) is currently seeking to employ a Material Management Officer GMG/AM 3 for the Trelawny Health Services.

The incumbent must efficiently balance the Inventory in such a way that the Hospital will be able to deliver the best care possible and not be over stocked with goods. The best quality goods must also be recommended for purchasing, and the most efficient way sought in distributing these items so as to maximize the usage of these items without short changing patient care:


  • Maintain an accurate inventory system, improve and change current processes in accordance with the Hospital's objectives.
  • Ensure that goods inward or stock controls are well organized and controlled to sufficiently support production and the goals of the Falmouth Public General Hospital.
  • Ensure incoming products are received and managed appropriately according to procedure.
  • Conduct usage trend analysis and forecasting to ensure the constant supply of all material/s are maintained and made available to the user at the required time.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are maintained at all times by allowing sufficient ‘lead time’ for the ordering of goods for delivery.
  • Develop the Inventory Management strategy with the main aim of controlling costs, and generate savings.
  • Manage and control perpetual inventory stock count and inventory accuracy checks.
  • To account for receiving, dispatching, proper storage, safe keeping of the facilities asset.
  • Ensure all fixed assets information is forwarded in a timely manner to the Inventory Officer so that the record can be done in accordance with MOH guidelines.
  • Manage the receipt of all donations and ensure they are recorded and stored in an organized manner and distributed appropriately.
  • Manage and control measures to ensure mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies are highlighted, addressed and resolved.
  • Ensure operations within the warehouse are of high standard in keeping with the Factories Act.
  • Immediately report all instances of shortages or damaged goods.
  • Liaise with the relevant officers for the speedy and accurate delivery of supplies when necessary.


  • Strong analytical, problem solving, excellent personal organization and business administration skills.
  • Knowledge of the Financial Accounting Act (F.A.A).
  • Knowledge of Government of Jamaica (G.O.J.) Stores Management practices.
  • Possess highest level of work ethics and is team oriented.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Posses the ability to work productively, efficiently with initiative and drive under tight deadlines and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Posses the willingness to learn, improve and adapt to changes.
  • Possess relevant IT skills in MS Office applications.


  • Bachelors Degree in Management Studies, Public Administration or Business Administration.
  • Certificate in Supplies Management or Inventory Management.
  • Specialized training in Supplies Management, Procurement and Inventory Control would be an asset.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in Stores and Inventory Management
