Medical Technologist

DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Performs, records and evaluates external and internal quality control procedures, such as daily control specimens, reproducibility and other external Quality Control specimens.
• Checks and standardizes reagents.
• Calibrates and standardizes sophisticated instrumentation according to sectional guidelines. 
• Performs routine maintenance on sophisticated instrumentation.
• Required to perform and document routine troubleshooting.
• Researches literature and assists with the development of new procedures as requested.
• Prepares and presents lectures and/or in-services as requested.
• Performs duties of senior technologist and/or is responsible for running the section when required to do so on weekends, holidays and during weekdays when the Supervisor is absent.
• Interprets and correlates test results with the patient’s diagnosis.
• Maintains complete and accurate records (i.e. log books, master worksheets, instrument worksheets and maintenance sheets). 

EDUCATION:

Graduate from an accredited college or university with a B. SC. in Medical Technology, Certification required
 

EXPERIENCE:

One year experience working in all areas of the laboratory preferred including microbiology and blood bank.
 

LICENSURE:

AMT, ASCP, CASMET, AABB, NCA, CSMLS or equivalent.

Bahamas Health Professions Council is mandatory.
