Under the direct supervision of a qualified Nurse the Nurse’s Aide is responsible for assisting in providing ongoing training and assistance to patients in Mental Health Services.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting patients in organizing their daily living activities, which includes feeding, bathing, dressing and bed making
  • Actively participating in patient’s programmes to ensure ongoing training to facilitate them achieving their maximum potential
  • Assisting patients in organizing their social and recreational activities. Actively engaging in these activities with patients both in hospital and in the community
  • Escorting, remaining with and to be responsible for the safe return of patients to and from activities. (Including driving hospital transport when required)
  • Observation and monitoring of clients physical / mental state and reporting to the nurse in charge any changes of note.
  • Assisting with completion of assessment on all patients

 

Qualifications & Registration required:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Nursing Assistant Certificate required with two years’ experience working in a hospital setting. Those with less years’ experience will be considered.
  • Must be registered with the Bermuda Nursing Council
  • Non-Combative Intervention Techniques (NCI) Certificate and CPR would be an asset
