Reporting to the Farm Manager, the Pasture Supervisor will provide support and take responsibility for implementing a variety of activities associated with caring for the pastures.


The incumbent is also expected to use his/her initiative to managing the pastures during seasonal drought. He/she must have expert knowledge in the use of tools, equipment, specialized procedures and techniques relating to the pastures.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine and recommend research needs to alleviate pasture problems, restore pasture health, improve productivity, and facilitate compatible land use.
  • Plan and coordinate pasture management field trials to determine applicability and adaptability of known research findings.
  • Coordinate fertilizer, herbicide and insecticide application.
  • Develop standards and specifications for pasture use and preservation.
  • Develop, oversee and execution all aspects of the pasture management program.
  • Ensure the maintenance of tractors, fences, walls and equipment.
  • Coordinate fertilizer, herbicide and insecticide application.
  • Coordinate and supervise hay/fodder harvesting.
  • Ensure the proper application of appropriate procedures and techniques, keeping records, mixing or applying materials, performing precise measurements and compiling accurate records.
  • Build and develop the pasture and soil fertility strategies.
  • Maintain effective application of good management techniques utilizing local organic materials, and inputs that are generated from the surrounding expansive acreage of the farm.
  • Perform other related functions assigned from time to time.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrate expertise in pasture management and irrigation systems
  • Sound knowledge of fertilizer, herbicide and insecticide application
  • Knowledge of animal feed and handling within a pasture and required procedures that contributes to the development of a herd
  • Working knowledge of Government Procurement Policies
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office



  • Diploma in Agriculture (plant science), or closely related field
  • Three (3) years’ experience in any relevant plant care facility
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Certificate in Pasture Management
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
  • Certificate in breeding techniques and artificial insemination would be an asset
