Patient Safety Companion/Sitter
Job SummaryApplications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the post of Patient Safety Companion/Sitter at the Roy Schneider Hospital.
The Patient Safety Companion/Sitter, under the direction of the nurse, assists in providing safety care to a designated patient(s). Responsible for providing constant observation and monitoring of assigned patient(s) to ensure their safety and prevention of injury. This includes assisting with basic care and activities of daily living to assure patient’s comfort. The Patient Safety Companion/Sitter assists with monitoring the patient for safety and specific needs. The Patient Safety Companion/Sitter is a compassionate, and discreet individual who maintains confidentiality, is dependable, and has a positive attitude while supporting the delivery of quality care to patients and families.
Hazards & Physical Requirements:
Be able to sit constantly. Some walking, bending, lifting, carrying, pulling and pushing may be necessary.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required. The employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a safe environment and therapeutic milieu based on the age of the patients served. He/she must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to communicate observed changes in behavior / activity to the nurse.
Must be 18 years of age. Good verbal skills, good reading/comprehension of verbal and written instructions, good interpersonal skills and good customer relations skills. Communicate effectively and deliver excellent customer service to our patients, their families, and SRMC staff, while performing assigned tasks.
