The incumbent leads pharmacy operations, staffing, and compliance, while managing budgets, inventory, and automation systems to drive quality improvement, strategic planning, and safe, patient-centered clinical services.

 

Overview

Under the leadership of the Clinical Director, Pharmacy, the Manager, Pharmacy will be responsible for the overall management of Pharmacy Services in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies, procedures and practices and strategic planning for inpatient, outpatient and psychiatric facilities of the Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB).

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership and oversight for pharmacy operations, staffing, workflow optimization, and service delivery
  • Supporting medication safety, controlled substances governance, regulatory compliance, and accreditation readiness
  • Leading quality improvement, policy development, and operational redesign initiatives
  • Overseeing pharmacy inventory management, procurement, budgeting, and fiscal accountability
  • Supporting pharmacy automation systems, medication management technology, and digital workflow improvements
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care
  • Supporting workforce development, performance management, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Participating in strategic planning and the implementation of new pharmacy and clinical services

 The successful candidate will be a hands-on, solutions-oriented leader who is comfortable driving change and supporting operational excellence within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

 

Qualifications & Registration required:

  • PharmD, MPharm, or equivalent advanced pharmacy degree
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Bermuda Pharmacy Council/Council of Allied Health Professionals
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive hospital pharmacy experience, including leadership responsibilities within an acute care environment
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing pharmacy operations, medication safety, controlled substances management, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, operational budgets, and service improvement initiatives
  • Experience with pharmacy automation systems, EMR platforms, and medication management technology preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and change management skills required
  • Experience supporting accreditation, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration preferred
