Principal, Mona Campus
Job SummaryThe University of the West Indies is conducting an extensive search for Principal of the Mona Campus, and invites expressions of interest, applications and nominations.
The University has embarked on a new Five Year Strategic Plan 2017-2022 - Rekindling Caribbean Development - and is looking for a transformational Principal to lead the Mona Campus.
The successful applicant will be expected to inspire the Campus and the wider University community in order to enhance areas of strength and address challenges facing the Campus. A proven record of management and leadership within the national and regional contexts is a requirement.
The Principal reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor and is designated Pro-Vice Chancellor. He/she is a member of the Senior Management Team of the University, and chairs the bodies responsible for the Campus' academic, business and financial affairs, as per Statute 10.
The Principal is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for ensuring that the Campus makes the best possible contribution to the educational, social, ethical and cultural advancement of the Region, and particularly to Jamaica. He/she is directly responsible for the maintenance and promotion of the security, efficiency and good order of the Campus and to be an effective leader of the regional vision of the University.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated successful academic leadership and possess a strong capacity to provide strategic direction and vision to the Campus, while building confidence and support among staff and students. The candidate must have significant experience in effective engagement with private and public sectors. He/she will be expected to demonstrate capacity for successful diplomatic interaction with all stakeholders at The University, especially in respect of regional governments, and international partners and donors.
The successful candidate will be expected to assume duties by October 1, 2018.
