GPL Inc. invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacancy of Revenue Protection Engineer, which exists within the Revenue Protection Department – Sheriff Street.

Job Description

Under the general direction of the Manager, the incumbent will lead the Human Resources and manage the assets of the Revenue Protection – Large Customer Section effectively and efficiently. The Revenue Protection Engineer – Minor Metering is responsible for investigating and testing of metering systems for residential and commercial customers to detect theft and metering anomalies.

 

ESSENTIALS OF THE JOB

  1. Planning, coordinating and executing field investigations, which include testing of meters to detect losses.
  2. Report on the finding of field investigations as it relates to detection of tampering, meter bypass, defective meter, and other related issues.
  3. Continuously review meter field investigation activities and procedures to ensure that they are conducted in an efficient, effective and customer friendly manner.
  4. Preparation of technical reports in support of findings of meter investigations for presentation to internal and external parties.
  5. Timely report on all customers with inappropriate tariff.
  6. Timely notification to the Metering Department of all meter changes due to defective metering and tampered metering.
  7. Research, recommend and implement new work techniques that can improve technical investigations and results therefrom.
  8. Train Department’s staff to develop required job skills and undertake training of field staff as necessary.
  9. Revise required mechanism/s to track Loss Reduction targets.
  10. Prepare annual budget for activities scheduled for the Department.
  11. Liaise with Billing Department on customer issues relating to billing and updating of customers’ accounts.
  12. Liaise with Metering Engineer and Manager on meter and interface replacements.
  13. Provide monthly Management Reports on all activities under your control.
  14. Ensure subordinates compliance with Company Rules and Regulations and initiate disciplinary actions in keeping with Company’s Rules of Conduct.
  15. Administer and dispense discipline in keeping with the Disciplinary Policy/Procedure.
  16. Enforce strict compliance with the requirements of the safety and health legislation, regulations and contractual obligations.
  17. Ensure that the environment and area under control is kept clean and tidy.
  18. Promptly investigate and make recommendations through written reports with respect to infractions of Safety and Health regulations.
  19. Conducts continuous assessment and monitoring of staff work performance and development, and taking steps to correct poor work performance.

Qualifications: 
1. Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Guyana or its equivalent from an accredited institution with at least three (3) years’ experience. OR 2. Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the University of Guyana or its equivalent from an accredited institution or Higher National Certificate or Higher Technical Diploma from an accredited institution with ten (10) years’ experience.
