The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA) invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position Senior Civil Works Technician (SOG/ST5)

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • University of Technology Diploma/Certificate in Civil Engineering or Equivalent

PLUS

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in the construction and maintenance of buildings

 

Specific Knowledge Required

  • Knowledge of Jamaica’s Building and Electrical codes
  • Working knowledge of the Ministry of Health’s Maintenance Standards  and Procedures
  • Knowledge of Plumbing and Electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Land Surveying Principles
  • Good Project Management Skills
  • Strong engineering background
  • Computer literacy

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Compiling data and the monitoring of performance of buildings and physical facilities within the region.
  • Reading, understanding and preparing schematic drawings to facilitate maintenance work of buildings and facilities.
  • Preparing scope of work and costing for building construction and repairs.
  • Supervising maintenance work on building and facilities.
  • Conducting audits of maintenance systems to determine if maintenance procedures to building and facilities are being adhered to and standards met.
  • Carrying out assessment of buildings, drainage, plumbing, and sewage disposal systems as to condition, performance and the application of acceptable maintenance standard.
