As a Senior Clerk within the Card Services department, you will be responsible for processing approved debit and credit card applications and opening new card accounts.

Collaborating as part of team, you will assist to supervise clerical employees when needed, working with management to ensure that Butterfield’s policies for the handling of credit and debit cards meet both internal and regulatory requirements.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • opening new debit card accounts and communicating to clients when they are ready for collection
  • processing fees to client accounts for services provided as per the fee schedule
  • assisting in vetting the accuracy of adjustments and fees charged to clients across the department
  • preparing and processing monthly debit card reissue batches
  • handling all debit cards returned by mail and uncollected cards from the Banking Centres
  • ensuring that all administrative functions are carried out efficiently and accurately
  • processing pinning requests for overseas debit card clients
  • handling cardholder queries, either by telephone or in writing, whilst ensuring that they are handled efficiently and accurately
  • performing research to resolve client issues
  • providing backup assistance to the Client Service area
  • assisting with credit card processing when necessary

Your qualifications and skills include:

  • sound educational background with minimum passes in English and Mathematics GCSE/CXC
  • four years banking experience and three years card industry experience would be advantageous
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • the ability to work with minimal supervision with the confidence to make decisions within areas of responsibility when assisting clients
