Job Summary

As Senior Destinations Manager, will be the face and voice of the Shore Excursions Department. He/ she will educate guests on their current and future destinations and inspire them to explore.

Job Description

You will be responsible for promoting, marketing and selling high end premium tours to high valued guests onboard the vessel.  This position will be leading the Shore Excursion Operations, one of the top three revenue centers onboard.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to travel the world while working for a top global employer of choice.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Conduct the shore excursion talk and the evening port talks
  • Sell tours to and create Private Journeys for Celebrity suite guests and high valued guests
  • Reach out to group leaders with no tours booked, to advertise and promote the destination and outline reasons for choosing a Celebrity Tour
  • Sell future shore excursions  to guests onboard who have purchased future cruises
  • Create Bi - Monthly blog content on destinations visited. Photos, fun stories etc
  • Conducts destination training for other shipboard areas, Housekeeping, F&B etc
  • Organize and arrange Port Shopping in European ports or ports that do not currently have a Port and Shopping guide
  • Film or shoot daily commercials with the Cruise Director explaining and promoting the tours
  • Assist with the dispatch of the premium guests from a separate or private location
  • Ensure the achievement of company targets, including revenue, guest satisfaction, shareholder value, employee satisfaction, and other key results areas
  • The Shore Excursion Manager, Assistant Shore Excursion Manager and Shore Excursion Staff will all report into the Senior Destinations Manager

Qualifications and Hiring Criteria

  • Minimum of two years as a Shore Excursions Manager or five to eight years’ experience in the travel industry or onboard a cruise line
  • Previous experience as a concierge in a 4 star resort or in a tour operation servicing premium guests is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of ports, tours, and itineraries (Caribbean, Europe, Baltic, South America, Australia, Asia, Mediterranean, and Alaska) is required
  • Sales background is required
  • Understanding of the travel industry and global knowledge of premium traveler’s needs and requirements
  • Excellent customer service and guest resolution skills are required
  • The ability to think and act like a Business Owner
  • Excellent public speaking skills  and confidence in speaking in front of large audiences
  • Very strong communication, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced computer software skills required
  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures.  This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers
  • Ability to speak additional languages preferred
