Job Description

Qualifications and Experience

PhD degree in Food Science and Technology or Food Engineering discipline with relevance to the food processing and food manufacturing industry.

Candidates should have a wide background in Food Science and Technology.  A Record of original research and peer reviewed publications in Food Science is essential. Experience with applying for external funding and joint projects with the food industry is preferred.


Specific Competencies/Requirements:

Must have an in depth knowledge and experience in the areas of food microbiology and safety, food quality assurance, food product developments  and quality and safety management



  • Will be required to develop and support teaching, research and outreach in the Unit
  • Will be required to align training and research activities with the needs of the national and regional food industry


Personal Attributes

Candidates must be student-centred and have the ability to interact positively with academic and support staff within the Department and the University, as well as interface with the Food Industry. Candidates must be able to independently develop his/her own R&D programme.
