Bequia Beach Hotel, a privately owned member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, located in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier to elevate our guests’ dining experience.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on sharing their expertise, has a refined palate, and enjoys creating memorable wine journeys. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping our wine program, guiding guests with confidence, and inspiring our team with their enthusiasm for the world of wine.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Curate, develop, and maintain an exceptional wine list that reflects both global classics and unique discoveries tailored to our clientele.
  • Provide expert recommendations and pairings that enhance and complement our culinary offerings.
  • Lead engaging training sessions to build staff knowledge and confidence in wine service.
  • Oversee wine inventory, sourcing, and supplier relationships to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Deliver outstanding guest experiences through attentive service, storytelling, and professionalism.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging regions, and innovative practices to keep our wine program dynamic and distinctive.
  • Design and lead bi-weekly wine tasting classes that immerse guests in the world of wine. Guide them through varietals, regions, and pairing techniques, creating an educational yet enjoyable experience that deepens their appreciation and understanding while showcasing the unique stories behind each bottle.

 

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a 4- or 5-star luxury resort in the Caribbean, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Certified Sommelier or equivalent wine education, demonstrating a deep understanding of viticulture, varietals, and pairing principles.
  • Strong knowledge of international wines and spirits, with the ability to curate selections that appeal to diverse palates.
  • Familiarity with Caribbean rums and regional spirits will be considered a valuable asset, adding local authenticity to the beverage program.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage guests in both intimate settings and larger tasting events.
  • A polished personal presentation and engaging personality, capable of building rapport and leaving a lasting impression.
  • Passion for continuous learning, staying abreast of global wine trends, and sharing that enthusiasm with both guests and colleagues.
  • Flexibility is essential in this role, as it involves working evenings during dinner service and assisting in the bar when needed during peak hours

 

Additional Information

  • The successful candidate must be able to live and work in the Caribbean Islands.
  • The position will be available starting October 15th 2026, and includes single accommodation.
  • Salary and benefits package will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
