The incumbent manages sterile supply services by coordinating theatre tray upgrades, supervising staff, and conducting product inspections while ensuring quality management compliance and efficient delivery to clinical customers.

 

OVERVIEW

The Supervisor, Sterile Services is responsible for assisting with the management and co-ordination of the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD). The officer is also required to coordinate the operations of the Department and the processing of instruments as well as executing training programs in CSSD which facilitates the development of a Quality Assurance system.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Manages theatre tray services in consultation with theatre managers/coordinator, advises and upgrades tray contents.
  • Ensures collection and distribution of sterile supplies.
  • Maintains an up-to-date Protocol Manual.
  • Monitors and supervises the implementation of the Quality Management System.
  • Performs routine product inspection and testing.
  • Interfaces with the Central Sterile Services' customers and ensures that an efficient service is being provided.
  • Maintains a clean work environment in line with Quality and OSH Standards.
  • Supervises and trains subordinate staff members.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A University Degree in Social Sciences or any related discipline.
  • Certification in Sterile Services Operations, Theatre Techniques or Surgical Instrumentation or any other relevant field.
  • Formal Training in Supervisory Management.
  • At least five (5) years' experience in a sterile processing environment.
