Teacher of Spanish (Primary School)

The successful candidate will teach Spanish at the Primary School level which includes Foundation Year to Year 6.

 

Additional positions of responsibility may be available for qualified candidates.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Must be a qualified graduate with a minimum of three years classroom teaching experience.
  • Must demonstrate a variety of teaching and learning approaches and resources.
  • Must be licensed by or qualified to be licensed by the Bermuda Educators Council.
  • Must demonstrate a variety of assessment and evaluation methodologies conducive to a 21st Century Learning environment.
  • Must be an experienced teacher with proven ability/success in the delivery of their subject in a differentiated classroom at all levels of the Primary Department.
  • Must provide individual, group and project-based learning instruction in Spanish, designed to meet individual and group needs in the classroom.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding the Common European Framework of Reference for Language or the American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages standards.
  • Familiarity with international language proficiency exams and certifications such as DELE is an asset.
  • Ability to co-construct with students a foreign language learning environment that establishes high standards, fosters a sense of belonging, and upholds values of inclusivity and safety.
  • Must implement the new Modern Foreign Language curriculum in Primary School focusing on developing students’ communicative competence from pre-A1 to A2.
  • Must have a proven ability in the use of information technology in the delivery of the curriculum.
  • Must be able to use an online grading system and be willing to create and update schemes of work and resources.
  • Must develop student understanding an appreciation of the language and the cultures of Spanish speaking countries.
  • Must have a commitment to the principles of independent education and be willing to contribute to extracurricular activities and the broader life of the School.
  • Must be committed to academic excellence and strive for positive relations with all students, parents and colleagues alike.
  • Must be a team player and willing to work collaboratively and support the ongoing development of the department.
  • Must be willing to provide cover for absences and/or advisory.
  • Must be able to thrive in a busy environment.
  • Fluent in another language would be an asset.
