Job Summary

This position reports to the Bermuda IT Supervisor and is responsible for providing technical or engineering support for microcomputer, ATM, cabling or Point of Sale (POS) system hardware and software.

Job Description

Your responsibilities will include:

  • assisting in the investigation, diagnosis and resolution of technical, operational and/or equipment issues
  • resolving system service requests from the Help Desk and/or Supervisor acting as first level support, escalating where necessary
  • testing, installing and certifying hardware
  • implementing or performing preventative maintenance, backups, recoveries and security procedures
  • assisting in the evaluation of hardware and software and presenting product recommendations to end users
  • testing, installing, moving, configuring and troubleshooting peripheral equipment and software
  • logging details of changes in a central support database
  • collecting performance data to monitor system efficiency
  • meeting all requirements set out in the relevant user area Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

 
Your experience/skills may include:

  • a university degree or diploma in computer science, information technology or related discipline, coupled with a minimum of three years’ related experience
  • certification from Microsoft, CompTIA, or Cisco would be considered an asset
  • knowledge of, and previous experience with, cabling, hardware, software installation and network topologies
  • ability to analyse, prioritise and multi-task in a deadline-driven environment
  • ability to understand business impacts to help mitigate risks and unscheduled outages
  • excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with ability to engage and collaborate effectively to resolve IT issues
  • ability to work outside business hours as required
