The incumbent manages complex trust and fiduciary portfolios by providing technical guidance and ensuring regulatory compliance while driving operational efficiency and business growth through proactive client relationship management.

 

Trust Officer

This position reports to the Senior Manager, Trust and will take ownership and be accountable for the management of a portfolio of complex Trust/Fiduciary structures and team members (as may be assigned from time to time) for whom the jobholder has responsibility for, including travel when needed. To manage a portfolio of clients pro-actively and with the highest level of service at all times, requiring the jobholder to have excellent negotiating and management skills always ensuring consistency of service is delivered. 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • effectively and pro-actively manage a portfolio of structures whilst ensuring all clients receive the highest levels of service
  • to be solution driven in all aspects whilst creating the relationship of a "Trusted Advisor" with the Client
  • ensure the effective management of all processes and workloads, ensuring that all transactions are carried out technically correct and in accordance with the requests received, with minimal errors
  • to be pro-active in ensuring that all clients receive a personalised service to support in developing new business and referral sources
  • ensure operational losses and complaints are minimal, and within any agreed budget
  • ensure policies and procedures for the Trust & Fiduciary Services Department are adhered to at all times
  • provide technical advice on structures, which may be in force from time to time, to clients and team members. In particular relating to complex structures, although not in the form of any direct taxation advice
  • continued focus on efficiencies and process remediation, deriving workflow benefits through the utilization of existing systems and/or enhancements to current procedures
  • ensure full awareness of all applicable laws, regulations and Bank policies and procedures, ensuring that these are implemented effectively on a day-to-day basis. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that all relevant Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Client Regulations and procedures are effectively applied to all client on an ongoing basis
  • understand and have a thorough knowledge and understanding of new and existing products and services available across the Butterfield Group
  • manage the process of WIP (Work in Progress) on a weekly basis, ensuring the effective use of systems and accurate time management. Ensure that all fees are collected on a consistent basis and in full accordance with Goals & Objectives set
  • to assist in meeting the sales plan targets for the division.

Your qualifications and skills include:

  • minimum of 5 years relevant experience, with experience of working in the Financial Services industry
  • excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills 
  • STEP diploma, ACIB diploma or ACIS 
  • professional etiquette, with experience of working in a client facing role
  • target orientated with a record of setting, meeting and exceeding set objectives
  • strong project management skills and a track record of working within a team
  • willingness to undertake pro-active duties from time to time
  • a strong user awareness of IT skills, and the ability to learn new systems easily.
