This position is responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of high net worth individuals, family offices and trusts. The individual will be instrumental in business development and the client service strategy.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing, managing and developing a portfolio of Bermuda domestic HNW client relationships, focusing on banking, asset management, trust and custody
  • Providing and maintaining a high level of service and interaction with clients, acting as the single point of reference for all client needs
  • Analysing customer circumstances/requests and seeking to provide solutions to meet their expectations by tailoring products and services accordingly
  • Maximising the profitability of each client relationship by cross-selling, analysing accounts and identifying service opportunities
  • Developing and managing relationships with “centres of influence” and introducers of potential clients
  • Managing, mentoring and developing direct reports and other team members within Private Banking
  • Setting individual performance and development goals aligning with departmental objectives and budgets
  • Visiting client sites, authoring and delivering presentations and representing the Bank at various formal business functions
  • Acting as a technical resource to the department
  • Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the banking industry and Butterfield products and services
  • Maintaining an understanding of world affairs, economic, business and other relevant matters


Your experience/skills may include:

  • University degree or equivalent in business or similar; further professional qualification (CFA, CFP or equivalent) required
  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in managing relationships with high net worth client portfolios
  • Excellent understanding of banking products particularly cash and asset management, investments, deposits, trust and custody services, estate planning and credit
  • Strong sales and service orientation with proven negotiation and business development skills, combined with an ability to close new business and manage relationships
  • Ability to identify client needs and related financial services and sell the concept of relationship banking internally and externally
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and selling skills
  • Proven ability to manage employees • superior presentation and communications skills and ability to interact successfully at senior management level
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications, with expert MS Excel skills and a keen comfort in managing large volumes of data
