The incumbent coordinates and conducts research for the Ministry, identifies priority areas, manages data collection and analysis, and assists in policy development and strategic planning.

The Assistant Attorney-General provides advice and guidance on a range of legal matters, to support the work of Ministers and Cabinet/Financial/Permanent Secretaries in the strategic management of a discrete Ministry.
