The Grenada Development Bank (GDB) invites applications from suitably qualified and motivated professionals for the position of Climate Finance Officer, within its Strategic Projects & Climate Finance Unit.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to Grenada’s climate resilience and sustainable development agenda, while supporting the Bank’s pursuit of Green Climate Fund (GCF) accreditation and implementation of climate finance projects.

KEY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Climate Finance Officer will support the mobilisation, development, and management of climate finance initiatives focused on climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience. Working under the guidance of the Project Development Specialist, the Officer will contribute to ongoing projects such as the Grenada Climate-Resilient Water Sector Project (G-CREWS) Project), Enhanced Direct Access Climate Adaptation Revolving Fund (EDA), GCF readiness activities, and the Bank’s emerging climate finance project pipeline.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Climate Finance & Fund Mobilisation

  1. Support identification and tracking of climate finance opportunities from multilateral, bilateral, and donor partners.
  2. Assist in meeting operational, reporting, and compliance requirements of climate finance mechanisms, including the Green Climate Fund.
  3. Contribute to preparation of technical submissions, reports, and Board papers related to climate finance projects.

Project Development & Implementation Support

  1. Assist in developing and reviewing climate finance concept notes and project proposals aligned with national priorities.
  2. Support stakeholder engagement and consultations with government agencies, development partners, and other relevant entities.
  3. Assist with project implementation activities
  4. Support monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of ongoing climate finance projects.

Policy, Systems & Institutional Support

  1. Contribute to development and updating of climate-related policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  2. Support integration of climate risk, resilience, and environmental and social safeguards into the Bank’s operations.

Knowledge Management & Awareness

  1. Support internal capacity building and climate finance awareness initiatives.
  2. Work with the Communications Officer to promote the Bank’s climate finance products and projects.
  3. Represent the Bank at climate finance workshops, consultations, and training sessions when required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Environmental Science, Development Studies, Sustainable Development, or a related field.
  2. A Master’s Degree in Climate Policy, Finance, International Development, or Sustainability will be an asset.

Experience

  1. Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in climate finance, development projects, sustainable finance, or related fields.
  2. Experience working with development partners, donor-funded projects, or multilateral institutions is an advantage.
  3. Familiarity with environmental and social safeguards, project reporting, or results-based frameworks is desirable.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  1. Knowledge of climate change mitigation and adaptation concepts.
  2. Strong analytical, research, and report-writing skills.
  3. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  4. Good organisational and time-management skills.
  5. High standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The role is primarily office-based, with occasional fieldwork and stakeholder engagements across Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique. Some flexibility in working hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
