Job overview

The successful applicant will create a safe and nurturing learning environment; manage the development of curriculum; set and monitor performance goals for teachers and students; liaise directly with the Head of Primary to ensure appropriate vertical alignment of the curricula between departments; and assist in leading the school through its continuing journey of self-evaluation and accreditation through organizations such as the Council of International Schools (CIS) and New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). 

Requirements:

Applicants must

• Be experienced, well-qualified educators with at least 5 years’ leadership experience in independent school education, with direct teaching and leadership experience in IGCSEs, A Level, and/or IB. Possess knowledge of middle school pedagogy and practice in which metacognition and belonging are central to the programme.
• Be an educator with working knowledge and experience in leading an international accreditation process and an international staff.
• Have strong leadership, management and organisational skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Be a nurturing, enthusiastic and energetic educational leader who is passionate about the growth and development of children. 
• Possess innovative ideas to promote the school and engage with parents, caregivers and the wider community.
• Create and develop a year 7 to 13 timetable.

Academic Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree and teaching qualification (PGCE, BEd) from a recognised university.
• A master’s in educational leadership.
• The successful candidate must qualify for certification by the Bermuda Educator’s Council.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide a recent criminal check and complete SCARS training. We are seeking Bermudians, Spouses of Bermudians, Permanent Residency Certificate holders or naturalised citizens to fill the post, in the first instance.
