BAMSI seeks a licensed counsellor or psychologist to plan and deliver mental health and development programs, provide confidential support, and advance student and employee success.

 

Counsellor/Psychologist

BAMSI is seeking a licensed/trained Counsellor/Psychologist to participate in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of counseling and student and employee development that will result in educational, personal and vocational development and support advancement of the visions, missions, and values of the Institute. The Counselor/Psychologist will be confidential and have a demonstrated empathy with the clientele and an ability to relate to the full range of the clients’ aspirations, abilities, and diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate must show a commitment to excellence in mental health success and participate in Institute and Community service. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate must have a MSc (Doctorate preferred) from an accredited Institution in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development; and licensed (or licensed eligible) to practice as a Psychologist or Counsellor. Minimum of two years’ experience providing counselling or clinical services and supervision; teaching, research and group counselling knowledge a plus. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide professionalism, and confidentiality in helping students and employees become stabilized, gain greater insight and understanding, and empowered to manage their mental health challenges; Provide individualized support and student success counseling for newly admitted students and returning students experiencing academic difficulty and other challenges; Assist in the planning, development and implementation of programs designed to encourage the success and retention of students; Cooperate with other services, programs, and departments in identifying at risk students and employees, crisis intervention and support; Provide counseling through classes, individual appointments, vocational tests, or other guidance systems and platforms; and may develop other specialized courses and programs to fill departmental needs; engage in appropriate research, innovation and scholarship; participate in student recruitment and faculty colloquia, serve on Institute and external committees.
