The incumbent responds to guest maintenance needs, performs preventive/corrective repairs across multiple trades, coordinates shift communications, and maintains professional service standards while meeting physical and technical requirements.

 

CORE FUNCTIONS

Guest Interaction & Service

  • Respond and attend to guest repair requests.
  • Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision.
  • Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards, anticipate needs, assist individuals with disabilities, thank guests with appreciation.

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and buildings.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts/supplies as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs on equipment, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Program TVs and perform housekeeping/engineering-related duties.
  • Assist with painting, drywall, wood trim repair, bulb/A/C filter replacement, and area cleanup.
  • Use Lockout/Tagout system before work.
  • Perform mid-level troubleshooting of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Carry tools, radio, and other equipment.
  • Display proficiency in one category, above-average skills in two or more, and basic skills in others: air conditioning/refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry/finish, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, general building management.
  • Solid knowledge in safe use of hand/power tools and repair materials.
  • Ability to repair/replace PVC and copper pipe (including soldering).
  • Knowledge of engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and associated devices.
  • Ability to train and mentor other engineers.
  • Ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.

Communication & Coordination

  • Ensure daily activities/problems are communicated between shifts via approved programs/standards.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
  • Listen/respond appropriately to colleagues.
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety/security policies and procedures.
  • Report maintenance problems, hazards, accidents, or injuries.
  • Complete safety training and certifications.
  • Properly store flammable materials.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect company assets.

Physical Requirements

  • Ensure uniform/personal appearance is professional.
  • Move/lift/push/pull objects ≤ 50 lbs without assistance; heavier with assistance.
  • Move up/down stairs, ramps, ladders.
  • Reach overhead/below knees, bend, twist, pull, stoop.
  • Enter/locate information via computers.

Other Duties

  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background.

Related Work Experience:

  • Experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation, and painting.
  • At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience.

Supervisory Experience:             

  • No supervisory experience. 

License or Certification:             

  • Valid Driver’s License


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification
  • Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.
