Groundsman (HSC/HS 1) – Mandeville Regional Hospital

Qualifications and Experience:

• Completion of Primary Education. 
• Certificate by HEART/NTA in landscaping, horticulture or related discipline would be a definite asset 
• A minimum of two (2) years’ working experience within a similar position. 

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

• Demonstrates Integrity and ethics 
• Ability to communicate both orally and written 
• Demonstrates teamwork and cooperation 
• Excellent knowledge of operating a motorized lawnmower/weed whacker
• Excellent knowledge of Landscaping 
• Ability to use and care for tools and equipment 
• Excellent knowledge of the correct application of plant chemicals (fertilizers, weed killer, etc.) 

Key responsibilities will include:

• Establishes and maintains attractive, healthy lawns, gardens and grounds; raking of lawn, sweeping parking areas and entrance to facility, disposing of garbage and debris. 
• Mows, edges, trims, fertilizes/mulches on a regular basis. 
• Recognizes the need for new vegetation, transplanting and watering plants and lawn.
• Attends the proper upkeep of the parking area, fences and borders.
• Keeps tools used clean and functional. 
• Reports tools and equipment to be repaired. 
• Removes garbage from collection receptacles and deposit in skip provided for removal by garbage collectors.
