The In-Water Acoustic Systems Engineer will perform operation and maintenance of shore-based hydrophone tracking systems, schedule required periodic maintenance, may operate the systems supporting range activities as required.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform analysis of system performance on a daily basis.
  • Schedule required periodic maintenance
  • Perform operation and maintenance of shore-based hydrophone tracking systems.
  • Identify failures and initiate remedial actions
  • Perform administrative tasks.
  • Record-keeping and procurement of spare parts inventories for assigned systems.
  • Perform installation and acceptance testing.
  • Works flexible hours as required.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • May occasionally ride range vessels in support of mission objectives.
  • Assist with other range systems including, DGPS, Large Area Tracking Range (LATR), Link-16, RADAR and Electronic Warfare R/F systems.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or an Associate's degree in a related field with four (4) years of experience in operations and maintenance of relevant systems. Military training and direct related experience in the operation and maintenance of underwater tracking systems in lieu of a formal degree will be considered.
  • Knowledge in the operation and maintenance of Underwater Acoustic systems, telemetry systems, transmitter/receiver circuits, displays, analog and digital encoders, troubleshooting and fault isolation.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment including: DVMs, TDRs, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Frequency Counters, Signal Generators.
  • Must be familiar with UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 45 pounds of equipment and be able to climb multiple flights of stairs.
  • Must have excellent analytical skills with the ability to determine cause of failures and make necessary repairs.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A valid driver's license and passport are required.
  • Must be in good health and able to reside in a remote location with limited medical facilities.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active U.S. DoD Secret Clearance preferred.
  • Previous military and/or test range experience with training in the operation and maintenance of underwater acoustic systems is preferred.
